Spreadsheets
For the ECDL Module 4 exam, candidates will be required to demonstrate adequate knowledge of a typical spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft Excel, Corel’s Quattro Pro, etc.). The candidate is free to choose which spreadsheet program they wish to be tested on, but are advised to make sure that the testing facility can accommodate their request. As well as being able to demonstrate their ability to enter, manipulate and format data, candidates will also be tested on general spreadsheet concepts such as applying simple mathematical and logical formulas, as well as being able to create and format graphs.
An in-depth understanding of mathematical functions is not required as this exam simply focuses on the candidate’s ability to use the spreadsheet application and create simple spreadsheets. The candidate should however be able to apply some of the more basic functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, etc., and as with all of the application exams, the candidate will be required to know how to prepare documents for printing.
To pass the ECDL Module 4 exam, a candidate must score at least 24 marks
from a possible 32 (75%).
