If you’re wondering what they are, what benefits they bring, and where you can get them then this list of exam voucher FAQ’s might help… Do
I need an exam voucher?
How long are the vouchers valid for? That really depends on the exam that your buying the voucher for and how long the seller has had the vouchers before you buy it. When a re-seller buys vouchers in bulk from CompTIA (using them as an example) then the vouchers will be valid for one year. If you come along after 6 months and buy one (and they haven’t sold any in that time) then you will only have 6 months to complete the exam. By rights re-sellers should be offering a bigger discount for close-to-expiry exam vouchers, but it’s just something to keep in mind. You can however use the vouchers immediately as soon as you get them. As mentioned, you may see ‘last minute’ deals where you can pick up exam vouchers quite cheaply for vouchers that have a very limited life span left, but you need to ask yourself the question if saving 20 dollars or so is worth it if you need to rush your studying or don’t have any room for any surprises to your studying schedule. [top] How long does it take to get my exam voucher once I’ve paid for it? Normally, and certainly with the more reputable re-sellers, you should get your voucher within hours of sending payment. In some cases you may have to wait until the end of the next business day but certainly you shouldn’t deal with re-sellers that make you wait longer than that. Most of you, if you’re anything like me, will end up doing any number of exams over the course of your career so once you find a good supplier of exam vouchers it would pay to stay with them where possible. You might find a re-seller that offers exam vouchers for $5 or $10 dollars cheaper, but quite often in life you get what you pay for. Caveat Emptor. [top]
Which exams can I use vouchers for? While this list is in no way intended to be exhaustive, at the time of writing vouchers could be purchased for most of the following vendor’s exams: CompTIA (I’d like to hear of any others if anyone has more information…) [top] That depends on what you’re looking for, particularly if what is bundled with the exam voucher is very important to you. Simply searching in your search engine will bring up a lot of re-sellers of exam vouchers but the one that I personally like to use (so far good service and good prices but their website could do with some work) are getcertified4less.com They have both U.S/Canada and International exam vouchers and offer lots of different packages to choose from.
