As with all Professional Series level certifications, the MCITP: Database Administrator credential requires that the candidate first pass the respective MCTS credential – in this case, the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 track. This comprises one exam:
The candidate must then pass two additional exams to earn the MCITP: Database Administrator credential. The two exams are:
- 70-443: Designing a Database Server Infrastructure by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
- 70-444: Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administration Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
After the candidate has successfully completed all three exams the MCITP Database Administrator certification is awarded. The credential is valid as long as the technology it relates to remains valid.
Those who already hold the MCDBA certification (or are working toward completing it) can take an upgrade exam to earn the newer MCITP Database Administrator credential. Candidates must pass just one exam:
