To become a MCPD Enterprise Applications Developer you must first pass three of the MCTS certification exams (a total of four exams) and then one further exam. The four MCTS exams are:
- 70-536: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - Application Development Foundation – this exam is common across the three MCTS credentials.
- 70-526: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - Windows-Based Client Development
- 70-528: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - Web-Based Client Development
And then complete one additional exam to become a MCPD Enterprise Applications Developer:
Alternatively, for those who hold a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certification on Microsoft .NET there are two upgrade exams to take (there is no need to obtain the MCTS credentials first):
- 70-553: MCSD Microsoft .NET Skills to MCPD: Enterprise Application Developer by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework: Part 1
- 70-554: MCSD Microsoft .NET Skills to MCPD: Enterprise Application Developer by Using the Microsoft .NET Framework: Part 2
