Oracle OCM Certification



The Oracle Certified Master credential is the third and final level of certification for an Oracle Database Administrator (following on from the OCA and OCP certifications). It is a very prestigious certification with only approximately 300 OCM holders worldwide. You can find a list of the current OCM holders, listed by country, on the Oracle website. OCM holders are able to take advantage of specific benefits such as the OCM professional profile which is viewable by the members of the Oracle community and exclusive use of the OCM logo.




Oracle Certified Master candidates must have obtained the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification, and have three to four years professional experience pertaining to the Oracle database. Candidates must also have extensive experience with backup and recovery scenarios, be proficient with SQL, have a working knowledge of the Linux command language, and be proficient with Oracle Enterprise Manager and Oracle Net Manager and Configuration Assistant. Target audience

The target audience for the OCM certification is Oracle Certified Professionals who want to further their career by demonstrating their expertise pertaining to the Oracle Database. OCP holders in the Medical Informatics field, Professional Engineers, Oracle auditors and Oracle consultants, amongst others, can benefit the most from obtaining this advanced Oracle credential.


Exam details and overview

In order to qualify for the OCM certification, candidates must first obtain the Oracle Certified Professional certification and have three to four years professional Oracle-related experience. Candidates must then complete two advanced instructor led courses, either online or in class. Then they must sit the Oracle Database Master Exam for a particular Oracle Database version (either 11g or 10g). Finally, candidates must submit the Hands on Course Requirement Form.

The Oracle Certified Masters Exam is a two day exam. A passing score is determined from several factors including the ability to perform tasks, recover from database failure scenarios, and the participant's environment. Exam topics include Database and Network Configuration, Data Warehouse Management, Data Management and many others. The complete list can be found on Oracle's website.


Where to take the exam

The exams are administered through Oracle Testing Centers worldwide. Candidates can find their local testing center by registering through the Oracle website.


Retake policy

Candidates must wait 14 days before retaking a failed exam. Candidates cannot retake a passed exam or a beta exam at any time.


Cost

The cost for the required classes vary by the class and the method of delivery (online or in class). The cost for the Oracle Certified Masters exam is $2000 USD (although there may be local currency variations depending on the candidate's location). The exam can be taken at any Oracle Testing Center worldwide. Candidates can find their local testing center by registering through the Oracle website and should make sure to check with their local testing center for up-to-date price information.
