For experienced Solaris administrators wishing to demonstrate competency in matters security-related, Sun offers the Sun Certified Security Administrator (SCSECA) certification.

Although the SCSECA certification is an intermediate-level credential, there are no prerequisites for eligibility for taking the SCSECA certification exams. Most notably this means that candidates do not need to be SCSA or SCNA certified first.

The SCSECA certification is only currently available for version 9 and 10 of the Solaris OS, and to gain the SCSECA credential candidates must pass just one exam. Due to the difficulty level of the exam, Sun recommends that candidates have at least 6-12 months job-role experience administering security in a Solaris Operating System (Solaris 9, 10 or OpenSolaris) environment.

The required exam for each version of the Solaris OS is: (click on the respective link to go to the Sun official webpage for more information and exam objectives)
